The Hero's Journey
The Hero's Journey project was the perfect opportunity for me to unleash my creativity and explore a new world through the lens of a movie. As a part of a team project focused on building a civilization for a museum exhibit, I knew that my work needed to capture the essence of the world we were creating. That's where the concept of the Hero's Journey came in - a timeless story structure that could help me build a compelling narrative that would resonate with the viewers.
With every frame and character design, I poured my heart and soul into bringing this world to life. From sketching out initial ideas to refining the final details, I relished every step of the creative process. This project was not just about creating a world but about discovering the many nuances that make up the human experience.
For this project, I delved into the depths of Joseph Campbell's book "The Hero with a Thousand Faces" to understand the intricacies of the hero's journey and how it can be used to create a captivating narrative. By understanding the hero's journey, I was able to develop a character who faced various obstacles, gained knowledge and experience, and eventually emerged victorious. I approached this project with a cinematic perspective, imagining how this story would translate onto the big screen. This project helped me hone my storytelling skills and taught me how to create a compelling narrative arc that resonates with the audience.
