Coorg Wines- Packaging
I was on a trip to Coorg, surrounded by the lush green hills and the refreshing scent of spices in the air. That's when I stumbled upon a treasure trove of tiny local shops, each one promising to take me on a flavour journey like never before. But what really caught my attention were the homemade traditional Coorgi wines that were sold in these shops. They came in various flavours like rose, grape, chocolate, beetle leaf, and ginger - each one more unique and delightful than the other.
I couldn't resist buying a few bottles for myself. But as the shop owner wrapped the green bottles in plain paper, I couldn't help but notice how their rich flavours and traditional wine-making methods were getting lost in the mundane packaging. Being a designer, I knew I had to do something about it. I saw the potential for a project that would not only showcase the exquisite taste of these wines but also preserve the legacy of Coorg's wine-making traditions.
The moment I stepped into the tiny local shop in Coorg, I was hit by the rich aroma of spices that filled the air. It was a welcome respite from the incessant rain that had been pelting down for hours. Seeking refuge from the downpour, I was greeted by the friendly shopkeeper, an elderly man with twinkling eyes that seemed to hold a million stories.
As I browsed the shelves, the shopkeeper regaled me with tales of his family's recipes, including pickles, chocolates, and his personal favourite - homemade wines. The rich colours and unique flavours of the wines drew me in, and I couldn't resist sampling a few. With each sip, I was transported to another world - a world of warmth, culture, and tradition.
But as I looked at the plain green bottles wrapped in paper, I realized that these wines were not getting the attention they deserved. As a designer, I saw the potential for a project that would celebrate the rich culture and warmth of Coorg, and elevate these traditional wines to their rightful place.
And so, I set out to create packaging that would do justice to the magic I had experienced in that tiny shop. With each design element, I aimed to capture the essence of Coorg - from its vibrant colours and intricate patterns to its rich history and traditions. It was my way of sharing my experience with the world and giving these unique wines the recognition they truly deserved.
Mockup
Although this project was a personal endeavour, it holds great potential for collaboration and realization. I'm excited to return to the quaint little shop and show the wise old shopkeeper my carefully crafted design. I hope to discuss with him how we can work together to turn my passion project into a reality. Collaborating with the shopkeeper would be a great opportunity for me to learn from his years of experience and gain valuable insight into the creative process. Even if our discussion doesn't lead to immediate success, I'm eager to hear his feedback and insights, as they will only help me grow as a creator. As I look forward to my next visit to the shop, I can't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation for what could come of this collaboration.
